Additional functions of the Animal Services Facility include housing for stray dogs & cats, meeting rooms for staff, and comfortable introduction quarters for people looking to meet their newest family members.
Entrances to the Animal Service and Adoption Reception areas are spaced apart from each other to encourage ease of access for animals and the people who love them. The public space houses a multipurpose room utilized by staff and the community for training classes, seminars, and fun after-hours events.
The building is comprised of linear masses oriented east/west. The cedar mass at the north houses’ adoption, animal services & clinic functions. While the standing seam mass to the south houses’ animals, support spaces and the multipurpose room. The low slope roof provides ample space for photovoltaic array to supplement energy use and skylights throughout to add natural light to interior spaces.
